vGRID Protect (Powered by COMET) - Client Installation

vGRID Protect (Powered by COMET) is a cloud file backup solution that can be installed on any computer or server running Microsoft Windows, Mac OS and Linux. 

STEP 1: Create a vGRID Protect (Powered by Comet) Account

If you already have a vGRID Protect (Powered by Comet) account, skip to STEP 2. Otherwise please click HERE

STEP 2: Download and install the client

1. Open a browser window and go to -- https://vgridprotect-akl.vgrid.nz
2. Download the client:
   1. On the Login page under "Download client Software", select the Operating System that you will be installing the client onto : Window | Linux | Mac OS
      • Windows 
        • For 64-bit OS types, click "x86_64 only" button
        • For 32-bit OS types, click "x86_32 only" button
        • If not sure of the OS type, click "Any CPU" button
      • Linux
        • Click ".tar.gz" button
      • Mac OS
        • Click "Download" button
3. Note where the client installer is downloaded (usually the Download folder on Windows)
4. Extract all the files that came with the package
5. Double-click the "install" icon and follow the installation process
6. On the Completing vGRID Protect Setup window select (default) "Launch vGRID Protect" then Click Finish
7. After a successful installation, a Desktop icon, Start icon and vGRID Protect Tile appear for easy access to the Client
8. On the Sign in window, type the 'username' + 'password' for your account and then click Sign in
9. After successful authentication, New Device Registration window appears where you can configure the device name for easier identification then Click Register
10. vGRID Protect is now ready to accept backup jobs
