Before Adding a Protected Item, make sure you have Registered a device first.
If not done yet please follow the steps to install and register a device HERE.
Steps to Add a Protected Item (Backup Job):
If you want to watch and follow the whole process instead, please watch below
- On Backup tab, Click on Add Protected Item button at the bottom left of the Client
- On the New Protected Item window, Type the Job name then Click Next
- Native Windows folders can be selected but to individually select File/Folder, Click Custom tab
- On the Custom tab, Click the + Icon to choose the File/Folder path or the Down Arrow beside the + Icon to choose item such as "Add single folder ..." - Note that once a path is selected/added it cannot be edited due to definite path selection policy. To Edit it, simply Remove it and then Add a new definite path
- Follow the wizard and change the items as preferred such as Schedule and Retention. If not changed, default items are Schedule = Daily at 08:00PM and Retention = Keep Backups Forever
- On the Finish window, a tick box to "Run a backup now" is available to start the newly created backup job
- Review the Job History and/or Detailed Log (bottom right-hand corner of the Client) for the details of the job
Steps to Restore a Protected Item (Restore Job):
If you want to watch and follow the whole process instead, please watch below
- Click Restore tab then select the Storage Vault to restore from (default is Storage Vault provided by vGRID) then Click Next
- On the Protected Item window, select the backup job based on the date and time. Note that in this initial version, you can only expand the Backup date by clicking and dragging to the right from the edge of the Backup date column header. This bug has been brought to Comet support attention and being looked at by developers
- On the next window, tick the box next to the target files/folders then Click Next
- On the Output Directory window, choose a location where to Restore the target file or just tick the Restore to original paths then Click Restore
- Check out the Job History and/or Detailed Log (bottom right-hand corner of the Client) for the details of the job
