Steps to create a 'full access' account on your Veeam Backup and Replication server to enable vGRID Support to validate rental license counts
As a Veeam Service Provider, we are able to provide rental licenses to customers either directly or via Partners. And while licensing information is usually collected by the Veeam Management Agent service on your backup server, there are occasions when this may fail.
Additionally, all first-level support requests will require this level of access to be able to connect to the Veeam Backup and Replication server to obtain logs and troubleshooting.
The following steps outline how to create an account that will allow vGRID full access to your Veeam instance (only), ensuring quicker response times when issues occur.
Step 1: Allow remote access to Veeam Instance (if you have not already done so) - here are the instructions to Enable Remote Management
Step 2: Create either a local account on your Backup Server / VM, using a complicated password (alphanumeric, with symbols) OR a domain account.
Step 3: Add this account to the local Administrators group on the Backup Server.
Step 4: Forward the user name and password of the account to vGRID Support.
